The City Hall Memorial Garden was built in memory of the glorious dead in the war years between 1941 and 1945. Inside this 12-sided Shrine is placed a Roll of Honour and plaques listing the units involved in the defence of Hong Kong. Eight Chinese characters denoting the remembrance of the everlasting spirit of the Brave and the Dead are inscribed on the walls. Though located in the midst of Central's hectic financial district, the Memorial Garden is able to provide an oasis of peace. Its beautiful setting makes it an ideal venue for the Marriage Registry.
